It is with great pleasure that we present the Women’s Award to Silvia Ding (Class of 2014, KH16).
Since graduating from the KH program, Silvia has achieved remarkable career growth within the Maersk Group. She started as the Managing Director for South China, then Greater China, she quickly made a name for herself by driving growth and digitalization within the company. Her hard work and dedication led to her being promoted to run the global ocean business, which generates $30 billion in revenue annually.
During her tenure as the head of the global ocean business, Silvia spearheaded an industry-transforming digitalization strategy. She recognized the need for Maersk to take a leadership role in changing the industry’s old analogue-based business model to a modern business model that leverages technology and big data. Under her leadership, her team introduced many innovative digital products and green products to the market, positioning Maersk well during COVID and inspiring many others in the industry.
Silvia’s accomplishments have not only been limited to her professional career. As an Asian female, she has broken barriers and shattered glass ceilings to make it to the top of a global business. She has been a role model for other female colleagues, and her mentorship has helped many women to follow in her footsteps.
Silvia’s commitment to digitalization and leadership in driving Maersk’s transformation into a digital-savvy company in an old industry, along with her trailblazing efforts and mentorship for female colleagues, make her a highly deserving recipient of the Women’s Award.
