Alice Mong KH01 (class of 1999), winner of the Distinguished Alumni award (Non-Profit Organizations), has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to promoting better US-China relations by bringing a Chinese-American perspective to the forefront.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Ohio, Alice began her career as the youngest director of an international office, appointed directly by the Ohio Governor. Later, as the first professional Executive Director of “committee 100”, she transformed the organization into a prominent, well-respected entity in Greater China, growing membership by 20%. She then served as Director of the Museum of Chinese in America based in New York and She now serves as Executive Director of the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre, where she led the organization’s development of innovative arts and cultural programs.
Alice’s dedication to promoting arts and culture has been unwavering, and during the recent years of Covid, she has led more than 200 conferences to keep people informed and engaged.
Alice is also committed to promoting educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth, raising funds to cover the expenses of internships from the USA to Hong Kong.
Alice’s leadership in the non-profit sector over the years in several prominent organizations has been characterized by a Kellogg-HKUSTs low ego and high impact leadership style, making her a most deserving recipient of the Distinguished Alumni award.
